LET’S GET AHEAD! … by neil smith - Make Money, Save Money, Seal the Deal!

So you hung out your shingle a few years back and went into business for yourself? Kudos and congrats! You’ve been happy personally servicing all your clients making a decent living as your own boss ever since? More kudos! Pat yourself on the back. But being the type of person who is always striving for that next rung on the ladder of greater success and wealth, you suddenly realize the limitations of there being only so many hours in a day and only one “YOU” to get everything you want done. As long as these limitations exist, your income is capped! Congratulations, you’re about to become the boss of others and you’re about to start PLANTING MONEY TREES!

Now, before you start thinking about worker’s comp, tax withholdings and all the headaches that come with having employees, you may want to start small and just outsource certain parts of your business that make sense, like the administrative office work. You can hire services to do these things for you (for example, DaVinci Virtual Office http://www.davincivirtual.com and many others. Just Google and ye shall find and learn!

The idea is to free yourself up from menial tasks so that you can spend your time generating more business, or better yet, training a sales force to go out and generate for you (like a small army of little “you”s) and training others to do what you do and do it for you. (At this point, you actually do have to start considering tax withholding, incorporating your business to protect personal assets and things of this nature. Just consult a qualified CPA and they’ll help you get these systems in place and make them worry-free.)

As the leader of your business, you should be attending functions, meeting and networking with other POI’s (People of Influence) who can help your business grow and drive business to you on a larger scale with the ultimate end-game being to get your business to a point where it practically runs itself and just sends you a regular check, at which point you can take all your new “free time” and what you have learned and set up other businesses in much the same way.

Think of yourself as a modern-day Johnny Appleseed going around planting money trees that will continue to bear fruit for you for a long, long time to come, all of which you have set up so well that you barely have to do any hands-on management in the day-to-day processing and all of which send you paychecks on a regular basis. NOW WE’RE GETTING WEALTHY AREN’T WE?

The point of this article is not to teach you how to do all of these individual processes as every business is different and you must determine for yourself how to delegate, outsource an set up these systems. The point of this article is to get you thinking along the lines of reinventing yourself and your business in such a way that removes all the limits from your income and more importantly - YOUR TIME which we all definitely DO have a finite amount of! Let’s make the most of it and LET’S GET AHEAD shall we!?

2009 is going to rock! I feel it already!

I started as a guitarist in 1986 at the age of 18 touring and recording with punk and hard rock bands across the USA as well as Canada and Japan. During the tech boom of the 90's, I began working entry-level marketing jobs for various tech-related companies (they were hiring anyone with half an aptitude back then) where I received professional training marketing and various forms of business technology. After the tech crash, I floundered in various office jobs, usually going through about 3 per year all while still performing in bands at night. By about 2003, I had built up my entertainment business enough that when I got laid off from my clerical job at a law firm, I was able to shift to performing as my full-time living. I never lost my taste for technology and starting developing an interest in self-help gurus as well (hey, don't we all want to be rich and successful!?). I discovered brilliant minds such as Suze Orman, Jim Cramer, Tony Robbins (I always thought that guy was a total douche-bag until I found one of his cassette tape courses by a garbage dumpster and decided to give a listen through and see what he's all about. I was very surprised at just how brilliant of a guy he is.) and have most recently discovered John Chow whose methods for making money online I am currently attempting to follow (thus this blog and the chronicling of my journey down this path while trying to build a community where we teach each other how to make better lives for ourselves and one-another).
